Carbon Capture Capsules, London UK

Concept design and Headquarters for Mission Zero Technologies (MZT), a Carbon Tech start up, located in 7 railway arches under Bethnal Green mainline train.

Mobile Direct Air Capture unit from a repurposed snake tank.

The company researches, designs and develops electrochemical Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology that removes CO2 from the air ‐ using water, a catalyst, and renewable energy. They are currently developing mass deployable, DAC units housed in 20ft shipping containers.

Railway Arch Labs are to become the company’s signature, and point of differentiation in the company’s identity.

The building is a series of capsules underneath and inside the existing railway viaduct.

Each capsule is self supporting and independent of its surroundings, requiring no involvement of the Landlord, and fully demountable to suit 3 year lease terms.

The design provides an architectural and spatial identity for something that is largely invisible, with carbon produced in-house forming part of the material palette and helping to demonstrate the company’s expertise and know-how.
